Kim's ExperienceKim Reddin is a professional film director. His experience ranges from drama, documentaries, corporates and webvision through to highly crafted television commercials produced in multiple genres. He has a particular interest in comedy, story telling in 30 seconds, dialogue and action shot in a cinematic style. His university education, studying film & television, was fostered by a series of government film development initiatives. Kim's career found solid grounding after gaining ten years of production experience, working behind the scenes alongside the biggest names in Australian Film,Television & Advertising. In 2002, with the support of his colleagues and the FTO young filmmakers fund, Kim emerged as a writer & director, with the festival and SBS film ‘The Last Diggers’. This lead to a series of 'positive story' documentaries, shot in some of the most remote places in Australia, for the Indigenous Communities Volunteers Foundation. When the ICV documentaries were later adapted into a series of national community service announcements, Kim broke through, as a copy-writer and director, into the highly competitive television commercial production industry. Since establishing himself as a full time creative in 2005, Kim has Directed and Co-produced over 150 projects, shot on film or the latest top end digital formats, for local or international clients. Kim has embraced a mix of new media technologies and 'old school' skills to deliver work cost effectively to the highest production value standards. As he builds his career towards directing his first feature film, Kim has concurrently developed his writing craft, completed courses, written feature film scripts, self funded short experimental projects and maintained working relationships with his network of friend’s, crew and colleagues across the world. |
