ELVIS Killed My Brother

Synopsis.

Leon Wexler, a paparazzo photographer obsessed with a belief - Elvis Presley is still alive. Enraged by a recent sighting in his old home town, Leon, coerces his yuppy brother, Chad, into joining him to confront the man he is dedicated to proving is‘The King’. Armed with a television camera… and a loaded pistol, they venture to a low rent city flop house to face the music.

(Below are a few scenes from the notorious short film) Flash player is required to view all movie files.

“Elvis Killed My Brother” was ‘four-walled’ screened to paying crowds, shown at film festivals
and teamed for national distribution with a feature film by the AFI across Australia.

For a number of years E.K.M.B also head lined short film nights and retro screenings at cinemas and campuses over all over the country.
Later it was shown on ABC TV and the SBS late at night.

“This was about as successful as a short film gets.
I am proud of it and the work of every one who helped make it happen.
We even sold over 250 t-shirts!"

Leon has had enough and demands the King sings to prove himself once and for all.
Whoever is in possession of the ELVIS KILLED MY BROTHER negative – Could you please give it back?

This film has professional actors, prosthetic make-up effects, squibs, gun play, pyrotechnics, multiple locations, two cameras, make-up, wardrobe, production design, break away props, stunts, fight scenes, crane shots that required us to close off a main street in the city and The King of Rock’n Roll resurrected convincingly all in just twelve minutes.

JOHN RYAN as ELVIS

SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKE UP

Bill Dennis (Pictured far left) was our hero special FX man. We'd heard he operated the monster that jumps out of the stomach in 'Alien'. We were extremely lucky to convince him to create Leon's point blank head blast. We even shot the close ups in his garage. Phadra Vance, (also far left ) created the blood and matched the make up seamlessly.

JEREMY CALLAGHAN as CHAD

The eyes move, the mouth opens and a squib blasts the wall at the same time as the gun blasts. This kind of effect is normally completely out of the league of a short film. This really added to the shock of Leon's death when we screened it in the cinema.

PETER HARDY is LEON

STILLS BY SKIP WATKINS

“E.K.M.B was a formative experience for me. It has become a cult short film
and a door-opener for cast, crew and myself to the industry.”
"I'd still love to make this into a feature film."
